Richmond Zoo Trip

We went to the zoo last week. I forget what day...Anyway, since Marlon's been out of work we had been sitting around a lot and were sick of being couped up so we headed out. We went to the Richmond Zoo which neither of us had been to, to see the animals. It was fun. Nice sunny, but not too hot kind of day. There were lots more animals than this. This is just all I took pictures of.

These guys are cute. I think they're like Prairie Dogs or something. They were doing a lot of construction around the zoo so some things weren't marked...

These ones (forget what they're called) were really friendly. They were all gathered around staring at us.

I knew Bison were big but I don't remember them being SO huge and intimidating.

At the Richmond Zoo you can feed like half of the animals. Giraffe is one of them! So cool. You can feed them and pet them.

There were two HUGE Tortoises.

The most hillarious Orangotang. There was a man there throwing the food pelets into the water and the orangotan would grab it and then do what looked like the sign language "thank you."

Then the couple started to walk away and he followed them. Another couple started feed him again, but not fast enough.

This was at the end of our trip and Marlon was on the phone with a man from T-Mobile Auth. dealers offering him a job! Finally!

Evoly was helping me bring the groceries in last week and she tripped on a crack and scraped her little knee and and elbow. This might sound a little messed up, but it was so cute! Her first knee scrape! She is such a big girl. She didn't even cry. It was a pretty good scrape on her knee, too. Here are a few pictures of my big girl!

Obama & New Stuff

Although I didn't vote for Obama, I'm ok. I think that he will bring change, time will tell what kind, but for now what I am seeing is promising. I must say that I cried while watching the inauguration.

I also watched an episode of Oprah that I recorded yesterday. She called on some well know performers and they created a song that I think is just beautiful. It's called America's Song. Check it out. The link is to the right at the top. It made my cry...a lot.

Other than that, nothing really thrilling. We are moving next week to our new apartment. It has TWO BEDROOMS!!! We are soooo excited. I'm working on school, Marlon works and Evoly is just her DANG cute self. Even when she is sick she is just a joy, always happy! Evoly has been sick off and on for the past year. (cold, cough, croupe and such) We finally got her to a different Dr. and he diagnosed her with Asthma. She takes albuteral every night and she is much better! She is such a good girl. She hated it at first but she got used to it and she'd do it by herself if she could.

These are my SCHOOL books. I took my first test yesterday and I got 100%...it was about learning techniques...nothing difficult. But I'm so excited. I'm studying Medical Transcription. Hopefully I will be finished in 6 months. It depends on me though. Then I will be able to work from home.

This is what our Christmas was like...this was a few days before but it looked the same. NO SNOW!! >:-(

This is a dress that Emily is letting me borrow (along with most of Evoly's clothes) that Cindy Chacon (Emily's mother-in-law) bought in Costa Rica.

This is Christmas day outside Abuelitos house. It was a beautiful day! The picture didn't come out so well because of the sun so I kinda tweaked the color.

Evoly just loves to do SOMETHING. She must be moving at all times. Sound like someone, mommy? ;) She loves her "booka" s.

Evoly opening her Christmas presents. I only got a video of one present because she took so long and lost interest very quickly. Fun nonetheless.

Evoly also loves pelotas (balls). This is pretty much what she does with all her toys. She'll take everything out and slowly put it back. Unfortunately it doesn't end that way. She usually looses interest while putting things back so it's all over the place.

So Evoly is 16 Months now. She is so talkative. Her favorite words "Guh gull" meaning good girl and "awa" or agua spanish for water. She uses "awa" for any liquid and sometimes food. A new favorite I taught her the other day is "bi" or bite. Mostly used when she wants to eat something but I did catch her making up a song using only the word "bi". She loves TV. Her favorite shows are on NOGGIN. The channel for preschoolers. She loves Pinky Dinky Doo, Little Bill, Dora, Diego, and the Backyardagains. She gets the most excited about Wow Wow Wubbzy and The Wonder Pets. I have also discovered that she likes to stack things. She has 4 containers of playdough that she loves to stack on one another. Also the cans in the kitchen...Anyway. She also says "Nah Nigh" for night night, "Buh Bye" that ones obvious, "uh oh", "hi" but she says it in this really cute high pitched squeak. She doesn't do this so much anymore, but you would ask her a question and no matter what, her answer was always "yeah". She is still extremely mischievous. She loves new things to touch. Evoly also loves her daddy. When Marlon comes home, we hear the door open, she gasps and runs to the stairs and does this running-in-place excited thing and sticks out her arms for him to pick her up. Daddy likes that, too! :)

Everything is normal around here otherwise. We have about 2 months left at our apartment and then we'll be moving down a hill to a 2 bedroom apartment in the same complex. I'm excited. We'll have room to live now. The new apartment is almost double what we are in now. It's also on the bottom floor so we won't have to walk up and down any stairs. What sucks though is that I've just now finished unpacking and organizing. I had like 6 bags of food from the church in the kitchen for like 4 months cuz I didn't know how to fit it in the cupboards. So the other day I took everything out and stuffed everything in. I only have 2 cupboards for food and a shelf that I bought. It all fits really nicely though. I'm so proud!! :)

This was our first Thanksgiving together by ourselves. It was also my first turkey.

Evoly can walk, almost, like a pro! She only falls when she gets going too fast. It's funny... ;)
She can even talk. Well, say words...like 3 or 4 words...This is a video of her first REAL word :)

Evoly can sing a song too but it's really hard to get a video of it. She has to be in a really good mood. That usually happens when I don't have the camera aroung of course. It's the cutest thing ever. I'll try to get a video soon.

This video is Evoly playing with playdough that she got from Aunt Emily and cousins for her first birthday. I decided not to let her eat it :)

On the scarier less cute side, I got a calling as the primary secretary of the combined Gayton ward and Henrico Branch...I'm doomed.

Bored...on Mother's Day

Not a whole lot of new things to report. Marlon's working, on Mother's Day, so I'm here with Evoly. BUT...Evoly has TWO teeth!! They came in within a day of each other. I tried to get pictures of them but she HATES to have her face touched so all the pictures are blurry and you can't tell which is a tooth and which is just a shiny blur. I'll keep trying though. She's so big. Bigger than most babies I see that are older than her. We don't care though. She's perfect. :)

Marlon and Evoly and I will be traveling to NY this weekend. Just a quick 4 day trip to get out of the house. Then in June Evoly and I will be going to WA for George's (my brother) graduation...that is if I can get the miles for it...(thanks mom :D)

Home life is good. Not too thrilling, what with me working between 0 and 15 hours a week. We stay at home and watch a lot of Spongebob(Marlon's new favorite show ;D) while Marlon is at work, and every once in a while go outside to be bombarded with pollen and come back home with itchy eyes and runny noses.

Marlon's trying to get a new job. He hopes with the same company in a Managerial position, if not in sales for Verizon Wireless which pays more in commission. We'll see what happens. Regardless, I think I need to start working more. :P

I guess that's all I have to report for now. I'm sure I'll think of something later but not have the patients to sit down and put it in writing. Don't forget about the pictures. We'll have new ones up next week sometime when we get back from NY.

So the last few days have been packed full! Lots of shopping trips, visiting with friends before we leave, SNOW IN SINGAPORE ;), and a trip to Malaysia. We went to China Town, and Little India for Christmas shopping ;), a few Dr. appointments :p, ward parties, relief society parties, and Dad and I went to Malaysia this Saturday to ride horses!! It was so much fun for us...but mom had to stay home with Evoly, and they didn't have so much fun. Evoly loves her Nana but she HATE HATE HATES the bottle. She hardly ate and cried a lot. We were gone for nearly 8 hours. Evoly was glad to see me and so was Nana. Horseback riding was REALLY fun, but I hadn't been for a few years so I was a little lost...I have MASSIVE bruises on nearly every part of my body that touched the horse and I'm really sore. I still think it was worth it though. I got to "partially" fulfill one of my fantasies which is riding a horse along the beach with my husband...We rode along the beach for about...20ft ;) but no husband...just my dad :P. J/K Dad. I love you. :) Anyway so we have along day ahead of us of packing. Trying to fit everything we brought plus what we acquired while here. Between the three of us flying, we are aloud 6 suitcases, 3 carry ons, and 3 personal items...and we will most likely use them all!

I cannot stand the anticipation of coming home. I'm glad I was able to have this experience but I now know where I belong. With my daughter and husband. Even if things aren't what they should be right now, I'm in it for the long haul. I'm not giving up on Marlon. I will do whatever is expected of me as a mother and wife and pray that it will be enough for us to work things out. People make mistakes, some more than other, but we are commanded to forgive and I am willing to do that for Evoly's and my happiness. (I the Lord will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you, it is required to forgive all men) I know that Marlon is a capable, strong, loving, kind, good person and I can only hope to have him back in my life as the man I fell in love with July 4th 2003. (I know, mooshy mooshy. Get over it! ;) ) Please, everyone continue to pray for us. I know that with all your prayers and with the help of my Heavenly Father, things will work out. I hope to have lots of good news to share in the coming months. I love you all!

Congrats to Emily and Carlos on their baby #3. Her name is Laurie Adeline Chacon. Laurie is my mommy's name ;) if you didn't already know that...Well Evoly and I are having fun but can't WAIT to come home. We've had some fun times but I am ready to get back to real life. Marlon and I will try to work things out...so if you would, pray pray for us. We will need it. I love him very much and can't imagine anyone else in mine and Evoly's life. So, last week was interesting. I think it was on Evoly's 3 mo. birthday, I went out dancing with Dad and Mom stayed home with baby. (this is going to get a little graphic for those of you with weak stomachs)She starting having these really green, slimy, SUPER stinky pooey (diarrhea) diapers. Then on the following Thursday, I was changing her diaper, as described above, but there was little spots of blood. I was home alone. Dad was at work, Mom was at book club. She left me her phone just in case I needed to get a hold of her...or order in lunch...(hehe). So I called her and told her what I found and she came straight home and we called her Dr. to get her in that day. While we were waiting for her appt., I changed three more diapers with blood in them. She didn't have a fever though. I wasn't freaked out because I knew she'd be ok, but I was a concerned that maybe I was missing something. We got her to the Dr., I told him what was going on and he just smiled and chuckled a little and said, "It's perfectly normal. It just happens to some baby's." (phew!!)...I guess?!?! He said it was probably just some little bacteria she picked up from sucking on her hands. The Dr. explained that the said bacteria may have just killed some of the good bacteria that line the intestines causing the lining to sluff off and thus causing the bleeding. He gave her a prescription that will give her more good bacteria to reline her intestines. She's been taking it for almost 5 days now. The diarrhea has slowed down, there is no more blood, and it doesn't smell near as bad, but it's still green...I don't know what to do about that...We'll have to make another trip to the Dr. I think.

Anyway, so, Halloween! Halloween...does not exist in Singapore...SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO We had our own little Halloween in the house. We dressed up...well we dressed Evoly up, and us in our Halloweeny shirts. We went to 7-11 and bought candy, and sat around and took pictures. Check out my pics! How was yours?

I so totally miss Virginia! I miss the cold, family, driving, and my husband. I wanna go home!

What a day!

So, yesterday my princess turned three months! It started out to be kind of boring. I took a few pictures of her when she woke up (technically not three months old at this point since we are 12 hours ahead), we sat around for a little while. I got her dressed and took a few more...ok a lot of pictures of her in one of her outfits she hasn't worn yet. It's from her abuelos. She has really been wearing 3 month old clothes for almost a month! A lot of the Asian people are really surprised to hear how old she is in comparison to her size. Asian babies are smaller I guess...(I think they look bigger...but what do I know ;) ) Anywho, Papa suggested we go for a walk at a nature reserve but he warned me that it was steep so instead of the stroller I carried her in the backpack. (When you look at the pictures, you will find that he was serious! What a climb! It was really beautiful though and great exercise! Especially with ~15lb baby on my chest!!) So along the hike we saw dozens and DOZENS of monkey, wild ones of course. It was so amazing. We got so close and they would have allowed us to get closer but that wouldn't be the safest thing....We got lots of great shots of the monkeys. And a few of the birthday girl...:) So after our hike, we went to this restaurant called Mr Prata. Prata is an Indian tortilla of sorts but they have different fillings and dips to go along with the tortilla. It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy!! If you haven't tried it, DO! You are really missing out! After dinner, Papa, Mama, and Nena went home, took a few more pictures, and a video and relaxed for the remainder of the evening, awaiting the morning when our thighs will burn in agony from that blessed hike. ;)...oh and we watched Transformers, something else you shouldn't miss out on! Great movie!! Enjoy the pictures!!!!!!!!!

When Evoly went to the dr. for her shots he also weighed and measured her. He didn't tell me the length and I didn't think to ask, but she weighs 5.55kg which comes out to about 12.2lbs. She's a biggen!

Today we went to Plaza Singapora to do some shopping. They have really cool stores with cutie cute cute clothes!! My closet (here in Singapore) fits in one suitcase plus shoes...so mom bought me an outfit. It's really pretty. A skirt and top. Super cute! Anyway. After we finished our grocery shopping and such, Evoly had a doctor appointment. Or should I say a "shot" appointment. She had to get her two month old immunizations. If we got it done in the US, it would have been 4 shots. 4 different needles poking my baby! But...here in Singapore, they had them combined, so she only had to have 2! That's the good part. But even though it's less needles...THEY'RE STILL NEEDLES! She was ok when the need went in...and then a few seconds later it hit her that there was something in her skin! She really didn't like the second one. The dr. also said that she might run a fever because of the the shot so I've given her Ibuprofen but I can tell that she's still in pain. I didn't get any pictures at the doctors office but I have pictures of her legs where she got the shots. I'll put them on Picasa later.

I have to say, I wasn't going to post anything until I saw my little baby ticker. I love it! It's totally true! I feel just that way. People ask me all the time. "How are you feeling?" "How are things going?" "How are you doing?" "How're you coming along?" I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine I'M FINE!!!! I haven't felt like throwing up for months until THIS VERY MOMENT WHEN YOU ARE THE 20TH PERSON TO ASK ME THAT IN THE LAST 5MINUTES!!

Anyway....I'm fine :) I haven't been sleeping well. As expected. I sleep on a bed of springs, my back hurts, and I pee every 2.5 hours when I should be sleeping.

Marlon and I are headed in the right direction. Hopefully if counceling goes as planned (meaning that we continue reconciliation) we will be a family under one roof before Evoly is born...oh and by the way...I just found out this weekend that Evoly was the name of "an old high school friend." He said he told me that but he didn't. If I never have to see her I will be ok with naming my child after her. :)

Oh yeah and I'm not sure why they keep changing my date but the last time they told me how many weeks I was, it was a week behind what they told me at my last appointment. Emily is coming with me to my next appointment because I never ask any questions. I have to do some blood work at my next appointment. You drink this stuff and come back an hour later so they can suck my blood. That's all for now. Next post....who knows :)

I had my ultrasound today...I'm having a baby. And guess what it is?...Guess!!...COME ON! GUESS!! I'll tell you after everyone guesses. :) I'll also put some more pictures up.

When the technician was taking the measurements this time, she was having a hard time getting her head measurements because her head was down too far and at a funny angle. I have to go back again next Thursday so she can take the last few measurements. However from what she got she changed the due date to August 3rd. Emily was in there with me and she said while she was taking the measurements some of them were reading for July 30! So hopefully after my next appointment it will push back again!! Anyway, that's all for now. More next week!

Does that look like first baby 4.5 months to anyone? I don't know what's going on! A few weeks ago I started to feel the baby moving. Last night I was watching TV in my bed and the baby was moving and I could feel it on the outside with my hand!! I think I'm more than 4.5 months. I have my next ultrasound on Thursday. They should be able to tell gender. Any thoughts?

So the day after my ultrasound, I had my last appointment at the health clinic because I was (my "husband" and I) approved for a form of medicaid in VA they call FAMIS moms. When I was at the ultrasound they didn't tell me my due date just that I was 16 1/2 to 17 weeks along. So we just guestimated my date as the end of July. That would have been cool but at my last appointment at the clinic they told me my due date was AUGUST 8TH!! Not so much...I don't think I will be making the wedding. :( I'll go on your honeymoon with you!!! Hooray!! :D Anyway! Not really anything else to report until my next app. Not until the middle of March. BYE!

So here's the poop scoop!

Two weeks ago at my first physical the Dr. told me that I was about 6 weeks behind what I was originally thinking. So I went to the hospital today to get my ultrasound and low and behold...the Dr. was right. I'm only about 17 weeks along and not far enough along to tell the gender. The lady did take and educated guess based on something she saw...girly parts...but Emily said afterwords that they all look like girls at that stage. I still think (and hope) it's a girl though. :) I have another appointment in 3 weeks and they should be able to tell for sure then! There are a couple pictures but nothing huge.

The little sideways "V" in the blackness is one of the arms.

This is the body. It's a little blurry cause we had to take a picture of the picture but this is "her" body. Facing up, the big belly on the left and the head on the right. You can see "her" little spine, belly button, skull, and jaw. In the original you can see the heart, too!

Brushing My Teeth

You all said you wanted to hear about my "mommy times" so here it is.

I cannot brush my teeth without throwing up. It usually starts with something that I ate. Either it upsets my stomach a little or I ate too much, OR even if I haven't eaten enough. It's really my fault because if I didn't brush my tongue I would throw up. But I do it anyway. :) I always feel much better after I throw up, but only for a few minutes and then I'm hungry again. That happened last night. Marlon and I went to Outback Steakhouse to use our Christmas gift card. I got this really good Seafood Pasta thinking that, 'I haven't had seafood for a while and the Omega 3 should be good for me.' Well obviously it wasn't! I didn't puke in the restaurant or anything, but I felt like it all the way home. When we FINALLY got home after gas station, and Walgreen's, we were going to watch a movie but I wasn't feeling up to it so I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth....and my tongue. Seconds later I was on the floor with my face in the toilet puking all my dinner and lunch up. Marlon was in a completely different part of the house and could hear it going into the toilet. GROSS HUH! I felt so much better. So we watched Hitch and went to bed. :) Only my stomach got all crampy cause I was so hungry. But I slept anyway. I didn't have anything that I felt was worth eating. So anyway. I'm going to the doctor with Em tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

Blog train BLAH BLAH BLAH!! We're on it OK! Nothing exciting to report. Emily is taking me to the County offices this coming Wednesday to see about WIC and such. Marlon and I are going to Greenville, SC this weekend for Winter Conference. HOORAY!...There was a cockroach in our sink yesterday and Marlon drown it in water dowsed with soap. It was really gross. Not very big though. I would have FREAKED OUT if it was anything like what he told me about in New York. My job is so boring that I can't even describe to people what I do. I don't even really think I know...We finally finished reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Excellent book! I'll give it to Em this Wednesday upon her long awaited request. Marlon is doing the dishes. He worked 10 hours today, luckily not in snow. I like this font. Bye!
